Adopt a Rabbit or Guinea Pig

Ready to find your perfect small furry companions? At the RSPCA West Dorset Branch, we want to ensure our rescues get the best start in their new homes. All of our bunnies are neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped unless otherwise stated.


Before applying, please ensure you can meet our minimum space requirements:

  • Rabbits (Pair): A minimum enclosure size of 3m x 2m x 1m high, including their shelter and exercise area. They must have permanent access to their exercise area and not be shut in just a hutch.

  • Guinea Pigs: A minimum enclosure size of 5ft x 2ft, or a C&C Cage of 5 grids x 2 grids.

Taking Care of your Rabbit

Thinking about adding a rabbit to your family? Please pause and read this first.

Right now, rehoming centers across the country are completely overwhelmed. Our branch has a massive waiting list, and sadly, we simply don't have the space to take them all.

​

Too often, rabbits are bought as "easy" pets for children. The reality? They are sensitive animals that can scratch or bite if mishandled. When the novelty wears off, far too many bunnies are left forgotten in a hutch at the bottom of the garden. They deserve so much better.

Are you the exception? > Rabbits make wonderful, rewarding companions for responsible adults. If you are ready to give a bonded pair of bunnies the thriving life they truly deserve, we would love to hear from you.

Our Adoption Requirements

  • To ensure our rescue animals live their healthiest, happiest lives, we ask all adopters to meet the following criteria:

  • Companionship First: Rabbits are highly social creatures. Because they thrive in company, we only rehome our rabbits in bonded pairs, or to live with an existing, lonely rabbit.

  • Health & Neutering: We strongly recommend that all rabbits are neutered. This is especially vital for females, who face a high risk of developing fatal ovarian and womb cancers if left unneutered.

  • The Right Setup: Adequate space is essential for happy pets. Before applying, please review our strict welfare guidelines:
